Dewetting of Polymer Thin Film Induced by Different Solvents
The dewetting of thin liquid films has been extensively studied, due to the importance of the stability of thefilm structures in various industrial processes. Understanding and controlling the dewetting behavior is greatlyimportant, which lead to the instability of the thin film; however, there are still many questions and puzzles inthe process of dewetting. 1-4 In addition, most studies focus on thermal dewetting but only several studies focuson solvent-induced dewetting.5-8 Even if there are several reports on solvent-induced dewetting, most of themare concerned with the good-solvent induced dewetting. The usual process of the solvent-induced dewetting issimilar to that of thermal dewetting. However, the solvent-induced dewetting has more freedom and conveniencethan thermal dewetting to alter the Hamaker constant and spreading coefficient of the polymer solution film onsubstrates by the choice of different solvents. Therefore, the investigation of dewetting induced by differentsolvents will be helpful for understanding many questions and puzzles in dewetting research, such as the issuesin the rim instability and in dynamics of hole growth.
