PALLAS:Personalised Language Learning on Mobile Devices

Mobile and ubiquitous learning facilitates languagelearners to continue their learning process outsidethe formal classroom, when and where they desire. While more and more learning resources areaccessible via a mobile device, there is a challenge in providing access to appropriate personalisedlearning resources.Personalisation andcontextualisation are often used as synonyms. In ourwork, we distinguish between these two concepts andconsider personalisation as a part ofcontextualisation. This paper describes the PALLASsystem which enables real life language learningscenarios by providing personalised andcontextualised access to learning resources via amobile device. The dynamic and static parameters forcontextualisation and personalisation of languagelearning resources are discussed.
