Developing a Novel Medium Composition for Flammulina Velutipe Culture
Cotton shell and wheat bran, as raw materials of mushroom production, are now increasingly difficult to be available with fewer suppliers or high transportation cost. Therefore, new raw materials for mushroom culture badly need to be developed. Possibility of some substitutes for traditional culture medium was investigated in order to meet with nutritional requirements during mother and original spawn culture stage. Three species of flammulina velutipes (Baiyu NO.1, Kin2001 and Kinbai NO.1),were selected, growing in a chamber under environment control. Six substitutes for mother spawn culture and five ones for original spawn culture were developed. All the treatments were carried out repeatedly by five and six times respectively for the two different culture stage. Variance analysis was made based on mycelium length as dependent variable. The result shows that culture medium with 50 g rice straw extract can promote the extend of mycelium length more quickly during the mother spawn culture stage, and culture medium with 22% rice straw for Kinbai NO.1 can significantly reduce the period of full growth during the original spawn culture stage.
