Empirical Study of Chinas Industrial Cluster Level Measurement
The geographical agglomeration of industries is a natural result of a nations economic development.Because of increasing scale proceeds and positive effects of external economy,industrial clusters often lead manufacturing industry to further centralization and have important influence on regional industry layout and development.The agglomeration level of some Chinas manufacturing industry in 2002-2006 is measured by the industrial space concentration θindex and CRn index,together with regional industrial specialization index.The results indicate that the overall agglomeration level of Chinas manufacturing industry is increasing continuously and there is also an upward tendency of industry agglomeration and localization.The specialization level of manufacturing industry is rising,and it is very high in economically developed regions and regions that are strong in manufacturing.While the specialization level is low in Northwestern regions,where the economy is underdeveloped.This study presented in the paper can server as reference for developing and evaluating industrial clusters.
