Role of MoO3 in Developing a Stress Resistant Material with a Smooth Microstructure

A Ni Zn Cu Ferrite with a composition of 0.41Ni 0.556Zn 0.12Cu 1.909Fe2O4 was taken and processed in conventional ceramic method. SiO2 and MoO3 were added and a detailed study was done. Electrical parameters such as Initial Permeability vs. Temperature and Stress, Power loss Vs Temperature were measured.Special attention was given to the microstructure by making SEM pictures. Our study indicates that addition of SiO2 is necessary to improve the stress related electrical properties but deteriorates microstructure. A further addition of MoO3 certainly improves over all performance of this selected Ni Zn Cu Ferrite by achieving a smooth microstructure.
