Grain Size Dependence of Magnetic Property in Ni0.49Zn0.49Co0.02Fe1.90Ox Ferrite
Polycrystalline Ni0.49Zn0.49Co0.02Fe1.90Ox ferrite has been fabricated using the conventional ceramic sintering method. Grain sizes have been adjusted from ~2.2μm to ~13.5μm with changing sintering conditions.Grain size dependences of both complex permeability and core loss have been investigated. It is suggested that the permeability is dominated only by the spin rotation with smaller grain size than ~6.4μm, and the domain wall contributes the permeability for the samples with bigger grain. Core loss has been drastically decreased at the mono-domain state, and such low loss can be explained by the reversible magnetization through the spin rotation. The simplified wire-wounded type inductors have been also fabricated and characterized. The result indicates that the inductor fabricated with the smaller grain size has the better performance in the quality value under the relatively higher current.
