Validation of the Penman-monteith Model with Estimated Radiation
Radiation plays a dominant role in the Penman-Monteith model recommended for reference evapotranspiration estimations. The objective of this article is to validate the Penman-Monteith model based on estimated radiation using measured radiation data. Study shows that the trend pattern is the same for daily reference evapotranspiration computed using measured radiation data (ETo(M)) and those using estimated radiation data (ETo(E)). The coefficient of determination (r2) of the linear regression equation between ETo(M) and ETo(E) was found to be good (>0.80). The Penman-Monteith model with estimated radiation can therefore be used to estimate reference evapotranspiration for the North China Plain when radiation data unavailable.
