Ecological Engineering Technology for Restoring Bare Saline-alkali Patch by Shallow Harrowing and Sowing Hordeum Brevisubulatum
Songnen Grassland is a key stockbreeding production base in northeast China. However, the grassland has been degraded and salinize-alkalized owing to the extensive cultivation and overgrazing in recent years. In this paper a method for re-establishing vegetation in bare saline-alkali patch was identified and tested. The result shows that the surface soil salinity decreases and increases with the periodic precipitation. The surface soil salinity is the lowest in later July, so it is the very better chance for Hordeum brevisubulatum to germinate, establish successfully in bare saline-alkali patch by sowing H.brevisubulatum in the bare patch after shallow harrowing. The method for applying shallow harrow and sowing H. brevisubulatum is suitable to re-establish vegetation in bare saline-alkali patch in Songnen Grassland, which is effective, low cost, sustainable economic benefit and operated easily.
