Analysis of Water Balance and Water Use Efficiency of Winter Wheat-Summer Corn in Baoding Plain

Based on the water balance equation, according to the precipitation series from 1956 to 2000 in Baoding plain, the water profit and loss in different water years of winter wheat and summer corn is analyzed. In the wet year, the effectiveness of precipitation can basically meet the water demand of summer corn, and there was a little water surplus. However, water deficits was serious for winter wheat whatever in the wet, normal and dry year. Thus, an increase in water supply was necessary. Selecting the observed data in the wet year and dry year of wheat-corn rotation planting, the relationship between water consumption and water supply is analyzed. Water consumption which increased with water supply,increased by 19.8% of winter wheat and 2.6% of the summer corn under adequate irrigation, compared with no irrigations. Whats more, the relation curve of yield, WUE and water consumption of wheat-corn rotation planting is set up.
