EOQ Models in Hybrid System with Goods Shortage Permission
This paper is to determine the optimal manufacturing and recovery Economic Order Quantity lot-sizes in the hybrid system where manufacturing and recovery operations co-exist.Considering the effect of shortage,we minimize the total cost which includes the cost for recovery setup,the cost for manufacturing setup,the cost for holding recoverable inventory and serviceable inventory,and the cost for shortage.We derive simple formulae that determine the optimal lot-sizes for manufacturing of new items and recovery of return items.In addition,through making sensitivity analysis on model parameters,we derive some managerial insights into inventory related to effects of shortage and recovery fraction.
