The Effects of Paternalistic Leadership on Leader-Member Exchange
Originating from the traditional culture, paternalistic leadership (PL) has been found to be widespread in various Chinese organizations. In this paper,leader-member exchange (LMX) is selected as a predictor to examine the effectiveness of PL.We first present paternalistic leadership behaviors and subordinate responses, which are followed by the process and the contents of LMX.And then we explore the mechanism by which each dimension of PL and the two-way interactions among them have effects on LMX relationships and offer our propositions at the end of each section. Finally, the conclusions and implications for practice are discussed.
