Hydrodynamics and oxygen mass translet in an external airlift alternant loop complex bio-filter
The airlift altemant loop complex bio-filter(AALCF)is a new reactor based on studies of airlift loop reactor(ALR)and biological aerated filter(BAF).The effect of the particle padding height and gas flow rate on the hydrodynamic characteristics:liquid velocity,gas holdup and oxygen transfer was investigated in all external AALCE On the condition that the hydraulic head loss was 4 to 18cm for clean particle layer in the downstream,and the superficial liquid velocity was 1-3 cm.s-1.on the range of 0.6-2.0 m3h-1 for the gas flow rate.and 6-30 cm for the particle padding height.The oxygen mass transfer coefficient Kla was 20-40 h-1,the research indicated that the liquid velocity in the circulation of AALCF was dependent on the gas supply and the system resistance mostly from the particle padding,but not on the influent amount.The continual changes of liquid up and down flowing kept renewing of the filtering bed as well as the bio-film.More advantages at the hydraulic and biochemical conditions in AALCF were achieved due to the liquid circulation.
