CHARACTERISTICS OF COLLECTING EFFICIENCY RELATED TO SPRAYING JET FLUX AND SUCTION FLUX IN SPRAYING JET TYPE COLLECTOR
A novel sand collector, of which the collecting unit consisted of a spraying port and a suction port, wasdeveloped by one of the authors. Since either liquid or gas could be utilized as the carrier, the spraying jet type sandcollector could be applied not only for collection or separation of small particles, such as sand and grains; but alsofor separation of mixed granular materials with different density or sizes. In the equipment, spraying jet flow wasused to agitate and fluidize the sedimentary layer, and then the fluidized sand could be collected by suction flow. So,each process of spraying, suction, collection and separation was influenced by many parameters. In this study, withglass beads (diameter of 0.210mm to 0.350mm) and water as experiment materials, the relationship between theconcentration of collected particles and the ratio of spraying jet flux to suction flux was investigated; besides, thecollecting efficiency of the equipment was analyzed. As results, the optimal ratio of spraying jet flux to suction fluxwas 1, and under this condition, the collection efficiency of spraying jet-suction method was 10 times higher thanthat of pumping method.
