A new kind of 4-phenylethynyi phthalimide end-capped imide oligomers and the cured polymers
Phenylethynyl end-capped imide oligomers have attracted much attention in the last decades,because of their improved melt processability, excellent mechanical properties and good thermal oxidation stability. 4-phenylethynyl phthalic anhydride (4-PEPA) is the most widely used compound for imide oligomers and the polyimide resin end-capped with 4-PEPA exhibited good processability and high thermo-oxidative stability. Especially in NASA over 100 kinds of 4-PEPA end capped PETIs have been prepared and studied. Among them, PETI-5 was selected as the adhesive and composite matrix for its outstanding overall properties.
