Preparation and Properties of PMR-Type Polyimides Derived from Trifluoromethyl Containing Aromatic Diamine
PMR-type (where PMR denotes in-situ polymerization of monomer reactants) polyimides are high temperature resistant matrix resins for advanced fiber-reinforced composites. PMR-15, one of the leading PMR polyimides, has been successfully used in the fabrication of aircraft engines, in the present research, 4,4-bis(4-amino-2-trifluoromethylphenoxy) biphenyl(6FBAB) was employed as the diamine to prepare the novel PMR-type polyimide matrix resin with high melt flowability. The influence of the calculated molecular weights on melt viscosity, thermal and mechanical properties was investigated.
