Synthesis of High Performance Polybenzoxazines

IntroductionRecently, the demands for high performance and low cost composite resins have increased tremendously due to the rapid development in the aerospace, micro-electronics, and aerogenerator fields. Among the suitable resin candidates, polybenzoxazines have attracted much interest because of its low cost, high heat-resistance, and excellent process properties.In order to improve further the heat resistant property of polybenzoxazines, much attention has been focused on enhancing its glass transition temperature. The introduction of polymerizable groups to benzoxazine precursors is found to be an effective method. A series of amines with polymerizable groups were used to synthesize the polybenzoxazines via di-phenol route. However, the polybenzoxazines synthesized from the different phenols with polymerizable groups via di-amine route has not been reported so far.
