Synthesis and Characterization of a Novel Organosoluble Poly(ether ether ketone) Changeable from Thermoplastic to Thermoset by Retro-Diels-Alder Reaction
Poly(ether ether ketone) (PEEK) is a well-known high-performance engineering thermoplastics, involving outstanding physical properties, such as high modulus, nonfammable, thermal and thermooxidative stability, and chemical resistance. These properties make it a wide range of applications in the fields of aerospace, electronics, automobile, and others. However, PEEK can not be processed by the casting methods due to its low solubility and requirement of a high molding temperature owing to its high melting point (Tm) at round 340 ℃. Considerable works have been performed to improve the solubility in the past decades. The key problem in the most works reported often exists at improving the solubility with a concomitant decrease of chemical resistance. Therefore, circumventing these problems is an interesting research topic in the past years.
