Macromolecular and Supramolecular Approaches to Photo and Spin Functional Nanomaterials

In recent years, we have focused on the molecular design of photo-functional polymers and developed a series of molecular systems for light energy harvesting and conversion. We have developed a well-defined supramolecular system with spatially separated donor-acceptor arrays consisting of multiple porphyrin and multiple fullerene layers, to achieve an efficient charge separation state, which is a key step in light energy conversion. We have also developed conjugated polymer, i.e., poly(phenyleneethynylene), as a new type photosensitizer, which upon coupling with catalysis system triggers highly efficient light-driven hydrogen evolution from water.
