GELATIN CARRIER FOR DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEMS OF GROWTH FACTOR

The problems with donor organs, such as their limited availability and immunogenicity as well as the possible transmission of viral diseases, have encouraged many people to consider tissue-engineering methods as an alternative strategy to treat patients who need organ or tissue replacement as a result of accidents or disease.Although growth factors are often required to promote tissue regeneration, bolus injection of growth factors in solution is not adequate in many cases due to the short half-life of factors administrated in the body and their rapid dissipation. Therefore, a drug delivery system is required to locally sustain growth factors and protect their bioactivity.
