PHOTOCONTROL OF NANOSTRUCTURES AND THEIR ORIENTATIONS IN POLYMER THIN FILMS

Active alignment of liquid crystalline (LC) polymer materials by light has already been widely applied.However, this phenomenon in nano-confined environments is not well understood. We show herein two examples of photoalignment controls of polymer LC materials that have currently been carried on in our laboratory, i) polymer chain tethered (grafted) onto a substrate and ii) nanostructure formed by a block copolymer.
