Hyperbranched Polymers --Preparation and Application

Introduction: Hyperbranched polymers have been paid attention because of their unique structure.Especially,they have many terminals whose number is the same of that of repeating units as far as they are synthesized from AB2 type monomers. Fig.1 shows typical structure of hyperbranched polymer synthesized from AB2 type monomers. We reported alternative method that was A2+B3 method.Novel hyperbranched copper phthaloeyanine polymers (HBCuPc) were synthesized using this method. As shown in Fig. 2, a monomer having multi functionalized with cyano was reacted with copper ion to afford HBCuPc which was soluble in organic solvents. Content of phtalocyanine function in HBCuPc reached to 90% after examination of reaction conditions. It was noteworthy that HBCuPc had incredible high dielectric constant that was 46 with low dielectric loss.
