SYNTHESIS OF FATTY ACID BASED HYPERBRANCHED POLYMERS AND APPLICATION IN DRUG DELIVERY

Hyperbranched polymers are recently preferred in drug delivery due to several advantages like multiple sites of attachment, defined size, and controllable physical and chemical properties 1. In this study ricinoleic acid based hyperbranched resin polymers (HBR) were synthesized and characterized for anti-cancer drug delivery. Tamoxifen and idarubicin were loaded to the HBR nanoparticles, drug release profiles were determined and biodegradation of these polymeric nanoparticles were studied. The effect of drug loaded nanoparticles over breast cancer cells were determined by cytotoxicity tests. These results indicated the efficiency of the HBR polymers in controlled drug delivery.
