Fatigue Model Testing and Life Analysis of Reinforced Gabion Walls under Cyclic Loading

In this paper, the relationships between the deformation behavior of plate & surface of reinforced gabion walls and the number of vibration cycles is obtained by fatigue model testing of the reinforced gabion walls under the excitations of five kinds of frequencies and three amplitudes. Fatigue life of the reinforced gabion walls is analyzed. Under the same vibration amplitude and the times of vibration, the vertical deformation is much greater than the maximum of lateral deformation. The lateral deformation in the 3 / 5H, 4 / 5H and 5/5H are nearly the same, and 3/SH reaches the largest. When the number of the loading cycles is below 1.3 million, accumulative deformation increases slowly with the increase of cycles, and now tbe ultra-dense rate is less than I. When the cycles reach to 1.3 million, accumulative deformation rapidly increases, and turns stable gradually. This is because under the loading A3=60-120kPa, ultra-dense rate of filled soil is greater than or equal to 1, and the dynamic stress is less than the critical dynamic stress of the soil. On the contrary, it will be damaged. It is very important to reinforced gabion walls engineering.
