An Empirical Study on the Effects of Transportation Costs on Industrial Location Choice
Evaluating and selecting a suitable industrial location has become one of the most critical issues for regional development.Based on data from the second census of basic units in Beijing and considering postal codes as a unit, this study uses Poisson regression model to analyze what has an impact on industrial location choice.Statistical results show that industries obviously tend to agglomerate in the central city, and are located close to the important transportation infrastructure such as railway stations, airports and highways. In the end,the authors draw conclusions that transportation costs have an important impact on industrial location choice.
