Direct oxidation of Dimethyl Ether to Dimethoxymethane over Sm2O3 modified MnCl2-H4SiW12O40/SiO2 catalyst
The promotional effects of Sm2O3 on the MnCl2-H4SiW12O40.SiO2 catalyst and the effect of reaction time fordimethyl ether(DME)direct-oxidation to dimethoxymethane(DMM)have been investigated in a continuous flow typefixed-bed reactor.It was found that Sm2O3 addition can significantly improve the activity of MnCl2-H4SiW12O40/SiO2,and the DMM selectivity is remarkably increased from 36.3%to 60-3%.The techniques of XRD,NH3-TPD,XPS andSEM were used to characterize the catalysts.Sm2O3 addition increases the binding energy of Mn2p3/2 and remains Mnin as MnO2.Sm2O3 addition maybe balances the distribution of the acidity sites and redox sites of the catalyst,andfurther increases the catalyst activity.
