Nanostructured Catalysts for Hydrogen-air Low-temperature Fuel Cells: Results and Future Perspectives

Annotation: Different aspects of hydrogen power engineering, e. g. hydrogen accumulating systems, proton-conducting membranes and electrocatalysts for hydrogen-air fuel cells, require development of new nanomaterials. At the moment, mainly platinum-containing materials are used for catalysis of the electrode processes in the low-temperature fuel cells. The applied research in the area of synthesis and investigation of the nanosized electrocatalysts, carried out both in Russia and abroad, focuses on the decrease of the Pt content; however, at the same moment the high specific power characteristics, exploitation stability and resistance towards catalyst poisons as well as gas admixtures are also taken into account.
