Photocatalytic Activity of Hydrogen Production over Pt-loaded CdS/AI-HMS Composites

A series of Pt-loaded CdS/AI-HMS photocatalysts were prepared by template, ion exchange and precipitation reactions and were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Diffuse reflectance UVVis absorption spectra (DRUVAS), X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and transmission electron microscopy(TEM). The result showed that lower content of CdS is highly dispersed within AI-HMS framework in the form of clusters. The H2 evolution activities of composites were examined by photocatalytic water splitting under visible light irradiation (λ≥20nm). The catalyst, CdS/A1-HMS loaded 0.34% (wt)Pt, showed the highest He evolution at a rate of 7.63mL/h with an apparent quantum yield of 2%.
