Non-Linear Analysis of External T-Stiffener Box-Column to I-Beam Connections
With ANSYS computer program,Non-linear analysis of external T-stiffener box-column to I-beam connection was carried out. From the Von Mises stress distribution of connection,for connections stiffened by T-stiffener,the moment transmission route was from the middle part of beam flange to T-stiffeners by the side of beam gradually,and portion moment was transmitted to column by T-stiffeners. The stress of connection was less and redistributed effectively by the stiffeners. The plastic-hinge appeared in the end of stiffener on beam flange.The significant behaviors were stress redistribution and greater stiffness due to the presence of T-stiffener. While taking several influencing factors of geometric dimension into account,the expression of initial stiffness of external T-stiffener connection was gained by least square method. The stiffness classification of external T-stiffener connection was classified as rigid connection in bracing frame according to Eurocode3.
