Failure Characteristics of Reticulated Domes with Substructure
This paper presents the study on the influence of the substructures on the failure behavior of the steel reticulated domes subjected to the severe earthquake. The dynamic performances and failure characteristics of single-layer reticulated domes with substructures subjected to earthquakes are discussed. Failure criterion is proposed to estimate the ultimate load for the single layer reticulated dome. It is observed that reticulated domes with rigid and flexible substructures have higher ultimate load compared with the reticulated domes with medium rigidity of substructures. The ultimate load increases with the decrease of the rise-span ratio and roof load.
