Performance Evaluation of Externally-Bonded Reinforced Concrete Members with a FRP-Aluminum Composite Hollow Beam
The use of various types of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites to the reinforced concrete (RC) members has been shown to be a good alternative technique for repair and strengthening. This paper reports the results of flexural tests carried out on reinforced concrete beams and slabs with an externally-bonded FRP-aluminum composite hollow beam. All specimens were tested with a simple support condition under four-point loading. Test results indicate that the flexural strength and deflection of strengthened beams and slabs significantly increased those of un-strengthened beams and slabs.
