The Comparison and Analysis of the Real Evacuation and the Simulated Evacuation

Construction of housing high-rise apartment buildings within in the city area has been increasing steadily. The architectural law in force that defines the ground floor should be the evacuation floor, so making evacuation route became more longer and bring out a bottle-neck phenomena during fires. It promotes evacuation time more and more longer. The closed construction system of these type of buildings causes a draft effect and chimney effect, which prevents initial fire fighting. The potential weaknesses and dangers lurking in the high-rise buildings during fires have to be considered when planning the safe-evacuation procedures for its inhabitants. So in this study, evacuation simulation and mock-evacuation have been carried out for the high-rise apartments. Using these two evacuation experiments in the highrise apartments, comparisons were made considering evacuation time, evacuation types, the density of evacuee and bottle-neck phenomena.
