The Features of Viewpoints and Objects through Analysis of the Road Network——The Case of PINNA
It is very important in urban planning to ‘decipher’ the landscape. Recently, in landscape design, the maintenance of viewpoints is being considered. For the maintenance of viewpoints, the consciousness in terms of the landscape of those living in the city is raised, hence the quality of the urban landscape is improved. Therefore the study of viewpoints is verysignificant for landscape design. This study focuses on the particular case of the German town of Pirna, a town damaged heavily during WWII. In the 18th century, PINNA was painted from various viewpoints by Bernardo Bellotto a highly respected artist. When reconstruction was undertaken following the war, it was decided that PINNA should be rebuilt according to Bellottos landscape paintings. This study asserts that a connection exists between the viewpoints and the objects of the PINNA landscape. It hence focuses on the road network which connects them physically, and analyzed the features of the shortest routes and the potential. The study further discusses certain features regarding the viewpoints and objects. In conclusion, I considered that when people walk in PINNA, they are able, largely to view the towns picturesque landscape.
