A Study on the Revitalization of Communities in Urban Rehabilitation——Focused on the rehabilitation of Communities within the Local Projects in the Global Environment

The great modern cities of the world have been being collapsed and devastated since the mid 20th century. As the foundation of national economy gets insecure by decrease of population and stagnation of economic activities, most cities start to lose their major functions from the viewpoint of the distribution of wealth. It might be either a vision or a conspiracy of the global discourse that, taking this as an opportunity, reorganizes the spatial structure to support economic activities, attempts to start another revolution in technology and architecture, and links cities in the world in a global circuitry. The study intends to examine the problems and dilemmas arisen from the city projects such as urban regeneration and restoration, urban revitalization and redevelopment of cityscape etc., to explore pros abd cons in the restoration and reuse of modern industrial heritages which has been recently in global vogue, and to investigate the formation and maintenance of community in the revitalized urban space and an integration of the new community with existing context.
