Transformations in village landscape and structure in three historic periods:A case study in north China
As a typical village of the Loess Plateau in north China, Jingsheng village has undergone three representative historic periods, namely, the feudal period before 1948, the collectivized period from 1948 to 1978, and the reform and opening-up period after 1978. Based on study of the layout and utilization of temples and houses of Jingsheng village in each period, this paper reveals that as the village landscape was gradually changed,the village structure was conspicuously changed in accordance with such governing factors as state power, clan power, folk belief and economic activity.
