Practicality of EEWH in Green Building Design:A Case Study of Yizai Elementary School

The Green Building Evaluation System EEWH was announced in 1999 by China Taiwan Architecture and Building Center. It is the first green building evaluation system which is designed for buildings in subtropical regions and consists of a twostage certification system (i.e. stage-one:Green Building Candidate Certification and stage-two: Green Building Certification). This paper aims to determine the practicality of EEWH in green building design by conducting statistical data analysis and case study on a Green Building certified building project. The main findings are: 1) The mandatory certification regulation since 2001 has significantly increased the number of Green Building Candidate certification and Green Building certification, especially in the public sector. 2) EEWH influences the project team in the design phase from building design, landscape design to construction material and fixture selection. 3) Building lifecycle is considered while adopting EEWH principals in building design.
