When Chinese speak,they talk in PUTONGHUA (standard Chinese).Why is that? Its main purpose is to understand each other,to facilitate communication.Since China is such a big country,has huge population,many nationalities and people from different part talk differently.There are a lot of dialects which are hard to understand.
