STUDIES OF A NOVEL LOW-IMPEDANCE TRANSIT TIME RADIATION OSCILLATOR
A novel foilless L-band low-impedance transit-time radiation oscillator was designed. Such an oscillator with coaxial structure has the advantages of low extra magnetic field, quick saturation time, and expected repetitive operation. As indicated by PIC simulations, the average power of output microwave is over 5.0GW at the main frequency of 1.583GHz with the input diode voltage of 600kV, the input diode current of 36.0kA , and the extra magnetic field of 0.45 tesla. Based on the above simulation result, the beam-wave conversion efficiency is about 22.0%, and much better than that of a high-impedance transit-time radiation oscillator with the same input voltage.
