PTFE-based fuel cell membranes with latent tracks prepared by UV-and-grafting methods
The development of polymer electrolyte fuel cell membranes with a higher proton conduction pathway in the thickness direction of the film is advanced by introduction of graft chains in the cylindrical damage zone (the so-called latent track region) formed along the swift heavy ion with both the UV-grafiing and the-grafting.The introduction of the graft chains only into the latent tracks can be also expected to prevent the excess swelling owing to water absorption just like the improvement of mechanical strength.
