Fire Resistance Analysis Method for Reinforced Concrete +-shaped Columns Based on Deformation Assumption

A numerical model based on deformation assumption, to calculate the temperatures, deformations, and fire resistance of loaded reinforced concrete (RC) columns with +-shaped cross section was presented. The second-order effect of axial forces, the combined actions of axial force and biaxial bending, and the nonuniform temperature distribution across the cross section were taken into account in the model. Predictions from the numerical model were compared with results flora full-scale fire resistance tests of three RC columns with +-shaped cross section. The results indicate that the model is capable of predicting the fire resistance of RC columns with +-shaped cross section with an accuracy that is adequate for practieal purposes. The model can be used to evaluate the fire resistance of RC columns with +-shaped cross section for any value of the significant parameters, such as load, column section dimensions, column length, load eccantrie ratio, steel ratio and concrete strength.
