The Design and optimization of a C-band Integrated Mode Converter and Horn Antenna
Research on a novel type of C-band high-power microwave mode-transducing antenna is reported. Firstly, the fundamental theory related with the designing is analyzed. Moreover, high power microwave coaxial fin inserted mode-transducing antenna for 6.2GHz is designed. The TM01 mode is converted into TE11 through coaxial fin converter. Integrating the fin-inserted mode converter and a novel horn into one structure, the mode-transducing antenna make TM01 mode microwave radiate directly. The calculated results show that it produces a gain of 19.8dB at 6.2GHz, the maximum radiation is on the axis, and in the range of 5.95~6.35GHz, the VSWR is below 1.5. The measured radiation patterns of the mode converter agree well with the simulated results, which indicate that the simulated results are valid.
