RESISTANCE-VOLTAGE-DIVIDING LOAD USED FOR TESTING AND MEASUREMENT IN PULSED POWER EXPERIMENTS
The resistive load is frequently used in pulsed power experiments. It has stable resistance, simple structure, and can be used repetitively in high power conditions. The resistance-voltage-dividing load introduced in this paper is a resistive load made in the form of resistance divider, thus it can be used for both device test and voltage measurement. The resistance-voltage-dividing load is made up with NH4Cl electrolyte. It works in vacuum and the resistance designed is 45Ω The output to input ratio is 7.59×10-5 which is obtained by two stage voltage dividing. The rising edge of the input signal is about 20ns. In such high frequency, skin effect will influence the loads resistance. In addition the distributed capacitance and inductance will distort the output waveforms and the rising edge will be influenced especially. So they must be considered in the design. The load has been used in pulsed power experiments and preliminary experimental results have been obtained. The peak voltage and current are 428kV and 9.48kA respectively. The operating resistance is calculated to be 45Ω, coincident with the design. The waveforms of the voltage and current match well.
