DESIGN AND SIMULATION OF C-BAND BIFREQUENCY MAGNETICALLY INSULATED TRANSMISSION LINE OSCILLATOR
A novel idea of azimuthal partition to generate high power microwave with two frequencies (named bifrequency) in a single device is put forward for the first time in this paper. According to this idea, resorting to azimuthal partition of cavity-depth in a conventional Magnetically Insulated transmission Line Oscillator (MILO), a C-band bifrequency MILO (BFMILO) is designed and simulated. The analysis of BFMILO shows that the operation in BFMILO is in particular partition. The results of particle simulation are presented: Employing an electron beam of 490 kV and 45kA, a C-band BFMILO can generate about 1.43GW of high power microwave with two frequencies. They are respectively 3.4 GHz and 3.65 GHz. The power efficiency is about 6.5%. The amplitude difference of the spectrum between the two frequencies is about 0.4 dB.
