INVESTIGATION OF AN IDEAL INTENSE RELATIVISTIC SHEET ELECTRON BEAM PROPAGATING IN A PERIODIC MAGNETIC FOCUSING SYSTEM

The stability of an ideal intense relativistic sheet electron beam (IRSEB) propagating in planar periodic magnetic field structures has been investigated, and the conditions of the stability have been derived. The distribution of the periodic magnetic field designed by a 3D magnetic field simulation software has been employed in a 3D P1C code to simulate the propagation of the IRSEB in a rectangular waveguide.The 3D PIC simulation results show that, the propagation of the IRSEB focused with periodic magnetic fields is achievable for 300keV and 3kA with a cross section of 0.2mm by 120mm and magnetic fields amplitude of about 0.1 Tesla.
