STRATEGIC MAINTENANCE AND OPTIMAL INVESTMENT IN PRODUCT RELIABILITY

The new product development process involves several stages. Reliability and maintenance issues need to be addressed during the pre-production (feasibility, design and development) stages taking into account their implications for the post-production (marketing, post-sale support) stages. The BRED project examines this topic and proposes a methodology for addressing reliability and maintenance issues during the pre-production stages. The paper gives a broad overview of the BRED project.
