RELIABILITY OF MULTISTATE REPAIRABLE STANDBY SYSTEMS WITH DEPENDENT DETERIORATIONS

Standby redundancy is one of the means to achieve highly reliable system with less dependable units. In most existing standby system reliability models, it is assumed that the system consists of identical binary-state units, whose deteriorations are independent with each other. The reliability under planned repairs has not been studied. However, the binary and independent assumption has been argued by both practitioners and researchers. Moreover, the industrial systems often experience planned maintenance. Hence, the standby system reliability model able to consider above issues is yet to be developed. In this paper, the reliability models for a repairable multistate 2-out-of-3 cold standby system will be developed. A multistate multipath failure mode is proposed to model the interactive deteriorations. The concept of repair matrix has been employed to model the effect of the planned restorations on system reliability.
