EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH IN ROTATING MACHINERY BASED ON VIBRATION AND ACOUSTIC EMISSION SIGNALS

The rotor-to-stator rub, shaft crack and pedestal looseness are the main serious malfunctions that often occur in rotating machinery. The traditional diagnosis method is based on simple signals such as vibration, or acoustic emission (AE) signal, which is effective in some cases. However, it is difficult to determine which fault happened only according to the vibration time wave or spectrum, and it is difficult in precise diagnosis for AE signals. The union diagnosis method based on vibration and AE signals is proposed in this paper, and the experimental results show that the proposed method is able to not only identify which fault occurs, but also to implement precise diagnosis, including the impact times per period and the phase info of rubbing, the occurred time of pedestal looseness and the severity of shaft crack.
