VEHICLE FLEET REPLACEMENT DECISION: SOME POSSIBLE POLICES
A vehicle in a vehicle fleet is subject to two or three types of mileage-based preventive maintenance. Some of the costs incurred in a vehicle life cycle are time-dependent and the others are mileage-dependent. As a result, the replacement decision needs to consider two time scales and a number of other issues. The paper identifies a set of issues to be exploited, gives a graphical representation of various cost elements in a graph with the two time scales, and discusses a few potential replacement policies.
