CBM DECISIONS FOR A FIXED CONTROL LIMIT POLICY
Consider a single unit subject to a gradual degradation. The degradation is represented by a composite condition variable, which is non-decreasing with time. The functional failure is defined by a fixed control limit of the composite condition variable. The condition variable is observed in a sequence of time points. The decision variables include the alarm limit, the time for the first inspection, and the time for the next inspection if the observed condition variable is smaller than the alarm threshold. The first two decision variables are conditionindependent and the last one is condition-dependent. This paper proposes two models to optimally determine these decision variables. A numerical example is included to illustrate the usefulness and appropriateness of the models.
