A NEW PERSPECTIVE ON ELECTRONIC PRODUCT RELIABILITY AND FUSION-BASED HEALTH ASSESSMENT AND PROGNOSTICS
Physics-of-failure is an approach that utilizes knowledge of a products life cycle loading and failure mechanisms to perform design for reliability and reliability assessment. Physics-of-failure based prognostics integrates sensor data with models that enable in-situ assessment of the deviation or degradation of a product from an expected normal operating condition (i.e., the products health) and the prediction of the future state of reliability. Fusion-based prognostics incorporate data-driven prognostics with physics-of-failure approaches. In this paper, a fusion-based implementation procedure, which includes failure modes, mechanisms, and effects analysis, data reduction and feature extraction from the life cycle loads, damage accumulation, prognostics and assessment of uncertainty, is presented.
