PROBLEM OF PROPER CHOICE OF DISCRETIZATION AND QUANTIZATION IN SYMBOLIC TRANSFORMATION OF SIGNALS

Paper presents problem of proper choice of discretization and quantization approach in symbolic transformation of diagnostic signal. Basic assumption is that particular type of failure is connected with characteristic structure of signal generated by object. Assuming that selected symbolic transformation will reflect load spectrum from the point of view of frequency structure, amplitude structure and sample size.Analysis of condition of effective load spectrum restore were performed. It is necessary in durability studies and in type of failure identification. The basis of energy distribution on amplitude-frequency plane investigation specially using probability distribution of given frequency. This approach allow to use statistics characteristics. Examination of efficiency of statistics characteristics is presented. In paper assumptions for proper selection and examples of diagnostic procedure in application for gearboxes were presented.
